zztp. Duvets. July 17th , 2018.
The duvet story begins a few centuries ago with down comforters in Europe and silk comforters in Asia. Both comforters required a significant amount of time to make. which gave them value. Also. both types are excellent insulators. but neither one was happy being washed in the local stream nor are they happy in a modern washer.
Construction of a duvet. The external material used in most duvets is cotton as it is both economical and comfortable. However. you do have options of silk or cotton-silk blend duvets too. The thread count for duvets is almost always high as the filling may tend to seep out otherwise. It is also a good idea to invest in a duvet cover as it makes maintenance much easier. A duvet cover protects against spills and general wear and tear. If you are looking to go in for a change of colours and hues around the room. it`s much more cost effective to replace a duvet cover than a duvet itself.
When compared to the same quality in other types of bedding. the equivalent number of decor changes is less expensive when duvet inserts and covers are used. Duvet covers are made for use without a top sheet. Therefore. they save the cost of top sheets and bed making becomes faster and easier.
So what about when you are using a duvet? Well. that is where duvet covers come in. Essentially. a duvet cover would take the place of a set of sheets. because the duvet cover can be taken off the and washed as you would a set of sheets. It certainly seems that this would simplify the bed making process. since you would be replacing your top sheet. blanket and comforter with a simple duvet. You need only throw the duvet over the bottom sheet and you are done. Or. if you go the old fashioned way. you would have a duvet on the bottom and a duvet on the top. kind of like a sleeping bag with no zippers.
Duvets are mostly filled with down. cotton. feathers or alternative fills that include synthetic fabrics. silk or wool. While duck down and goose down duvets are seen as rather luxurious. synthetic duvets have been catching up and nowadays can give duck down or goose down a run for their money. Also. if you or your children are prone to allergies. you should opt for duvets that are filled with hypodown or other such anti allergic filling.
